FAST FORWARD

VF Dance Theater is proud to be performing this season at Black Rock Center for the Arts on May 4th its remounted work of “FAST FORWARD”

Act I is set in the present and examines the rapidly advancing technologies and social media platforms which give us ever-increasing access to information. How should we, as individuals and as a society, use this wealth of information? The dances showcase how increased awareness can lead to increased responsibility, fear or guilt. Using the complexity and beauty of the human body and spirit, choreographer Veronika Farkas and her dancers make issues such as stress, racism, obesity, starvation, war, natural disasters, and cancer both tangible and personal.

Act II leaps to the year 3012 to explore social and cultural norms far in the future. With the help of original music, movement, props and digital media projections, the dancers explore technology’s crippling effect on human interaction and how cultures will ultimately merge together in a way that will make them individually unrecognizable. Subject matter for the dances includes education, relationships, natural resources and overall quality of life.

VF Dance Theater is excited to announce that we will be partnering with Give Kids the World this spring in order to touch the lives of those who need it most through our passion for dance and community outreach. Give Kids the World is a nonprofit organization providing memorable, magical, cost-free experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. In an effort to meet the needs of these special families, Give Kids the World opened a 70-acre resort in central Florida complete with over 140 villa accommodations, entertainment attractions, whimsical venues and fun specifically designed for children with special needs.

VF Dance Theater will be sending 7 cast members to this village March 21-24, 2013 in order to provide these extraordinary families with a customized dance performance with originally composed music and specifically tailored costumes to instill a lasting magical memory for each of these children during their stay at the village this spring. Besides performing, the cast will also donate a full day of volunteer services to help out around the village and bring supplies along with fun giveaways.

In order to create the impact that VF Dance Theater hopes to achieve this spring we will need your help. Whether you are able to give a little or a lot we are truly grateful. You can help us make a difference in these children’s lives and we can’t thank you enough.
